Abalone is also known as Pāua which is the Māori name given to three species of mollusks. Known in the United States and Australia as abalone, and in the United Kingdom as ormer shells. Locations: Worldwide distribution, along the coastal waters of every continent, except the Atlantic coast of South America, the Caribbean, and the East Coast of the United States. The majority of abalone species are found in cold waters, off the coasts of New Zealand, South Africa and Australia, Western North America and Japan.
Abalone is useful for balancing emotions. It calms extreme situations and encourages flow and change. It stimulates psychic development and intuition, and promotes imagination. Abalone reduces worry, anxiety and frustration. It helps to focus on the core of the self and understand who we are and who we are not.
